OPTICIAN is a well-respected U.K. magazine that covers all aspects of the optical industry.
Every year, the magazine hosts the gala “Optician Awards”—a prestigious black tie ceremony that sees attendees from all over the United Kingdom. This year’s ceremony took place in Birmingham. CooperVision attended, as all movers and shakers in the industry did.
The anticipation mounted as the clock ticked down to the “Contact Lens Product of the Year.” The nominees included:
- Johnson & Johnson Vision Care
- Butterflies Healthcare
- Sauflon - Clarity™ 1day multifocal
- And…CooperVision with our Proclear 1 day multifocal lens
We’re very happy to announce that CooperVision won!
Selected in part for its marketing campaign and innovative choice of lens material, our Proclear 1 day multifocal contact lenses are designed to deliver excellent vision from any distance for people who have presbyopia.
We know that our R&D team worked very hard on designing this contact lens, so we would like to thank them for their tireless effort and diligent research that went into designing this lens.
Presbyopia definition
What’s presbyopia? It’s a condition where after the age of 40, the eye exhibits a progressively diminished ability to focus on near objects and fine print, especially in low-light situations.
If you’re over 40, this often translates into having trouble reading a menu in a darkened restaurant or maybe the print in a newspaper or magazine grows too blurry to read without using some form of corrective lenses—or stretching your arms out like a rubber band!

How Proclear 1 day multifocal contacts can help
Proclear 1 day multifocal lenses let people who have this condition see objects both in the distance and up close—clearly. And presbyopia affects everyone somewhere past the age of 40 - 45. It’s part of the natural aging process of our eyes.
And Proclear 1 day is a daily disposable lens, which means that people who wear these contact lenses enjoy a fresh, new pair every day. This can make remembering when to replace your contacts with new ones very easy—there are no overnight cleaning routines to follow.
